He was a much better snooker player than you are a stuntman. A much better bloke too, no doubt.

Pikey - Be careful, they will take your statute down!!

Remember seeing him play when he was just making his way in the professional ranks at the local town and country club, slim with a full head of hair!

I thought his commentating with Virgo was excellent, I played very badly in his club in the early 90's, he was always on the first table doing his thing.

R.I.P Willie Thorn. A legend in his own mind, but always a character.

RIP Willie.

They use to say he was the most talented player in practice sessions but never quiet reached the heights in tournaments. Still had a good career but gone too soon.

A pal of miner came out of a nightclub many years ago pissed up, staggering about, he took a piss in a bush and promptly fell into said bush, getting a thorn into his cock and cutting it.

From that day he was forever known at Willie Thorne

Re: Willie Thorne
WT agreed in 2016 to do a PR campaign / public awareness shift for Sport Relief, "Famous Rich And Homeless".

Every celeb was asked to spend a week on the streets. Thorne found it all a bit tough. Said his foot hurt and booked himself into a hotel. TBF, he took a new homeless mate with him. At least he tried.... and he argued that it proved just how tough homelessness really was.

And, he arguably wasn't "Rich" anyway. Not long after, he was declared bankrupt, owed £450,000 in gambling debts. Overall, he borrowed over £1m while "insolvent". Maybe that's where Lineker's money went?

Yep, "a character".

RIP Willie.
